CubeSat Status

INSTRUCTIONS:

  2. Please think about where your subgroup is at with your piece of the cubesat and add to the list of things we need to find out/create a new list to add the info you still need to complete your designs!

If we break it down further, here is a working list of info needed for us to finalize all of our designs:

Sizes:

  1. Electrical: powercore, voltage regulator, battery pack

  2. Radio: Antenna, Tracking radio

  3. Software: UART to USB connection

  4. Sensors: Lens, altitude sensor, breakout board

  5. Mechanical: screws, wires, connectors

Mass:

  1. Electrical: powercore, voltae regulator, battery pack

  2. Software: UART to USB connection

  3. Sensors: gyroscope, altitude sensor, breakout board

  4. Mechanical: screws, wires, connectors

Wattage:

  1. Sensors: GoPro, breakout board

  2. Electrical: voltage regulator

Temperature

  1. Radio: Tracking radio, GPS

  2. Electrical: Voltage regulator, battery pack

  3. Sensors: GoPro, breakout board

Parts Still Needed Through Ordering:

  1. Breakout board (once received it will go with the lepton IR camera)

  2. Second battery pack (is it needed?)

Parts Still Needed Through Machining:

1. Body of CubeSat (depends on size info and power requirements)

Established Constants:

  1. Overall size: 30cm x 10cm x 10cm

  2. Max weight: 2.5kg

  3. Total surface area: ~1500 cm2

  4. Total volume: ~ 9000cm3

Temperature Commitments (doesn’t include GoPro and is incomplete):

  1. Highest low operating: 0°C

  2. Lowest high operating: 50°C

  3. Highest low survival: -45°C

  4. Lowest high survival: 80°C

  5. Operating range: 0-50°C

  6. Survival range: -45-80°C

Things Still Needed to be Figured Out:

  1. Software/sensors code connection

  2. How to work the ground station?

  3. Does our math make sense with reality? (sensor res)

  4. Wire connections

Needs to be Discussed:

  1. CubeSat Orientation

    1. If testing for real orbit, the orientation should be how we want it to be in the final orbit

  2. Placement of subsystem-weight distribution

    1. Inside Components:

      1. Radio: GPS, tracking radio, telemetry

      2. Electrical: powercore, voltage regulator, battery pack?

      3. Sensors: gyroscope, altitude sensor

      4. Software: UART to USB connection, RPi

      5. Mechanical: wiring

    2. Outside Components:

      1. Radio: antenna

      2. Sensors: VIS camera, IR Camera and breakout board, GoPro

      3. Radio- on the inside and antenna on the outward

Tadgh Murphy: As far as sensors go we have most of not all the information of cameras in the spreadsheet, we didn't go over altitude sensor or gyroscope but once set up should be fine. Once the ordered parts come software should be able to get to work. As far as the go pro I don't know much about it's mass and temperature limitations.

Julie Sage: We have given all of the information possible except for the GoPro and the size of the lens (which we can do today?). I actually made the majority of the list last week so I can explain all that needs to get done.
